Goal 48. Cut your laundering chore in half aka. marriage advice from a 26yr old newbie

When I first wrote this goal I was thinking about coming up with ways to reduce how often we washed clothes, getting a clothes rack (which we did), and setting up a place for "slightly dirty" but could be worn again clothes other than the floor, so they didn't just end up in the laundry.

But I am lucky enough to have gotten a completely different solution to this issue... Prince Charming has now taken over this chore! Let the thunderous applause roll!
Actually he took it over about 2 months ago but I just haven't updated the goal. It is so fantastic to have a husband who helps with household chores. But there are a few things I have learned about how to share chores, and other boring household-y things.

Goal 36. Create a soothing, clean bathroom

Charming and I often dream of what it will be like when we own our own place. A time when we can knock down walls and get all new kitchens and level the floors properly. Actually I think the most exciting thing will be when we can get closet doors that actually work. I know that reality as a homeowner is generally non-glamourous home improvement projects such as furnaces and updating electrical, but a girl can dream, right?

One of the rooms in a house that is most limiting, unless you are completely gutting the place, is a bathroom. I mean all the furniture usually comes with the place, and generally in pretty basic neutrals (unless you have awful "avocado", which isn't usually considered a decor choice..). Also the rooms are generally pretty small, and we do a limited amount of activities in this space, so there isn't too much room for imagination.

My goal, as you can see, is to first have a soothing bathroom, and then to have one that can remain mostly clean. This means that it needs to function well enough so that excess stuff everywhere isn't causing stress, and making it hard to clean. To me, this is one of the best examples of minimalist decorating. Here is how I was able to make my bathroom beautiful, without spending very much money at all.

Goal 65. Be in bed by 9 one night

So as the title suggests last night I was in bed early. Record-breakingly early. The last number I saw on my clock was 7:34. I think the last time this happened I was about 6 years old.
Honestly, I am a night owl. As much as I know that having a good morning makes the rest of your day flow smoothly, I often feel physically sick in the morning and NEVER want to eat breakfast. Since I usually work evening shifts that go until midnight, a bedtime can easily by 2 am. So for me to have gone to bed at this ridiculous hour means something. It means I was exhausted.

With the new year has come all sorts of blogs on resolutions and choosing goals for the new year. As a "procrastination-by-obtaining-information" expert I usually spend hours and hours looking through these goals, carefully thinking about mine, thinking about the end goals and designing the plan so I can get there as fast as possible, rarely thinking about the work this will actually entail. I always imagine myself having lost 50 pounds and being able to run a marathon in just 5 minutes a day!...... so you can see why my goals and resolutions don't usually work out. And after a few weeks when I realize they aren't working out I re-adjust and then eventually they just get forgotten.

So this year I am doing something a little different. Since I already have a bunch of goals I am working on  I don't need to add any others. But I have made a few resolutions regarding my goals, so that I can keep the momentum going.

Goal 60. Get a decent media system

Well, the Christmas season has drawn to a close and Prince Charming and I are getting back into the regular routine of things. Prince has had the last week off, so our house was been running like a wonderful machine, with him doing all the laundry and dishes, plus vacuuming! It's great to have someone around who helps out so much.

Over the holidays we celebrated with family and actually had a house full of guests. In order to do this we had to transform our "office" into a guest room for my parents, and during this transformation we took Prince's Mac Mini desktop out of the office and into the living room.....

Which we LOVE!
